This course is the foundational course required for the religious leadership emphasis, and is open without prerequisites to all students. The course surveys key aspects of organizational leadership. It will provide an introduction to theories of leadership and an understanding of organizational culture. It will a lso address practical issues of leading an organization. As a course devoted to preparing for ministry, it must also give attention to the place of spirituality in the workplace.

As an introductory course, students will encounter basic concepts related to leadership and organizational life, and have the opportunity to connect these learnings with emerging understandings from other areas of the curriculum. This course will provide the necessary foundation for successf ul participation in upper level courses in the religious leadership emphasis. This course contains a near equal emphasis on formation, contextualization, and skill building.
