This survey course is an invitation into deeper,
contextual understandings of the diverse writings that make up the second part
of Christian canon. It is designed for both new and experienced readers of the
Bible. We will practice thoughtful and
imaginative readings of New Testament texts with multiple contexts in view, including
the historical situations of the texts’ authors and earliest audiences, the
student’s own present-day context, and a present-day context that involves
intercultural conversation.
